My glass supplies are starting to arrive in the mail for Terri Brush soldering class.

I am so looking forward to this class. I want to make all those cute things she has pictured on her web page. Unfortunately won't be able to complete the heart for the Valentines day but I will have it for next year.

I will be posting pictures of my projects even it they are not any where near perfect.

I have been checking out my list of blogs each day. For some reason I am blocked from posting comments on blogger accounts or I am directed to a bright white empty page when I click on comments. (Lisa your blog is one I can't comment on)

This is gonna be a much better year.

Course so far the Fates have laughed in my face.

One of us has been ill since Christmas.

Thank God for blessing me with a loving, caring daughter.

Luz has taken care of me since she came home for Christmas dinner and found me in bed with a 103 temp and FREEZING......now she has a bad cold.

Yep, this is gonna be a WONDERFUL year.

When Santa arrives at my house he will NOT see such a beautiful setting. Wish I could decorate at tree as well as the Pottery Barn people can.

Working on too many projects at once to get anything completed. I have four days in a row off this week and plan on completing a handful for my daughters stocking.

December is sooooo close.

Oklahoma is having an identity crisis......she thinks she is California!

We have been having earthquakes! Everyday and MANY a day (9 in 24 hours). Saturday night the 5.6 lasted an eternity....it was so very exciting for us. Now? not so much.

Tonight we are under tornado watch, storm watch, flood warning, and really can't tell if it is the thunder or the earthquakes making the windows and lights shake...........go figure!

Every time we visited California I wished for a small earthquake just for the experience of it. Now that we are into day four of quakes I am ready for them to stop as now property is being damaged and people are being injured.

Unless we have a rider on our homeowners policy earthquake damage is not covered. I cancelled my coverage three years ago. Coverage cost under ten dollars a year. Did I mention I cancelled my coverage? The price of ONE light switch cover and we have NO insurance coverage. *sigh*

On a happy note I have started crocheting again. Since I had stopped crocheting I cleaned out all of my crochet supplies this past summer and donated them to a sweet local lady that makes items for shut ins and the forgotten. However, now that I have found a couple hours down time at work each evening I needed something to keep me busy. Crochet is so very portable. In a month or so I will have a afghan to donate to some "cool" soul. Pic to follow if the afghan turns out well. lol

Storms are rolling in so I must sign off! Happy craftin.

these cookies were made for her and she shared with the class. Such a giving teacher with her knowledge (and cookies).

this blurry lady? always in motion, telling good / god based stories. Sharing her knowledge is her calling now. KC Willis / Lipstick Ranch check it.

speaking of sweet ladies. See the lady in the white top sitting in front of KC? that 's Lisa. Been reading her blog for a year or so. Such a nice lady. So glad I got to meet her in person.

Paper Crown blog is a nice place to visit for class information. The store is to DIE for FABULOUS! They stock such beautiful stuff, including Graphic45!! LOVED looking at all the goodies. The class projects are all over the store for shoppers to drool over and then sign up at the register. Hope to go back for another class or two and of course to shop and visit.

Happen to stumble across "Paper Crown" and what do I see? KC Willis is gonna be in OKC teaching! I was scared I was late arriving at the party but NO! I was able to purchase a seat. I am gonna be sitting front and center Saturday morning in Ms Willis' class. SO very excited.

Believe me when I say COOOL stuff like this does NOT happen in Oklahoma very often. I know we have VERY talented people in our state, however, I have not been able to find many classes round these parts.

KC Willis Lipstick Ranch is a blog I have visited off and on for a couple of years. Never dreamed I would actually get to take a class from her.

If I can find and scan the pic of my Mom in her summer best, her picture will be on the front of this.

I will tint her up all nice and purdy.

Say you purchased a new car on a Tuesday from Jim Glover Chevrolet in Tulsa, Oklahoma. You use the Chevrolet incentive rate of 2.9% to finance the your new automobile. You say NO to the GAP insurance and the additional three year warranty service they try to sell you.

So you have actually stopped them from getting the kick back from the bank they were going to use (5.9% interest), the extra cash they get from selling the GAP insurance and they make nothing from the company that sells the warranty coverage. Finance guy was PISSED to say the least about this, especially since NO ONE knew about the incentive rate......like the manager of the car lot had to look it up on his computer cause NO ONE at Jim Glover Chevrolet knew about the Chevrolet's incentives.

THEN on Saturday your salesman at Jim Glover Chevrolet calls you and says you have to come in and re sign your finance papers as the Chevrolet financing fell through.

Have you ever hear of such a thing???? Is this a scam??? I have been up set about this all day. Why would they let the car leave the lot if the credit had not been approved by Chevrolet? Isn't that what took the finance guy TWO hours to process the paper work??

I am afraid Jim Glover Chevrolet has a scam of some sort going on ........ thoughts???

7000 Bracelets of Hope

Crazy Blue Eyes is gonna be one of the 7000. However, I still can't find my crimper. Soon as I locate where I put the darn thang I will finish up the crimping and covers and pop this puppy into the mail. Now I am off to look at the cool bracelet you made for this wonderful cause. Tulsa Bead Market

Here's the goodies I brought home from the bead show visit yesterday.
I have fallen in LUV with the man made blue and gold stone. Some awesome person seems to have come up with a mix of the two, kinda funky zebra like. I see a necklace or two for Luzs in the future for sure.
'pearls' were at almost each booth as were the crystals, altho some of the "crystals" were really cheaply made plastic.
I have no idea what the orange beads are made of, surly man made, but they are so beautiful!
Tiger eye and stone cabochons were bountiful. LUV the stone Cali lily. They were being clearanced so only a few were available with limited color choice.

If you remember last year we were hit with a horrible snow storm on the first day of this show. I arrived before they opened, grabbed what I needed and left. By then we had received half a foot of snow. It took three and half hours for me to get home! It was b.a.d. Not as many booths as last year but I was still able to do some damage to my pocket book :o)

Metal needed ~~~ CoPpeR

Where do ya all purchase your large metal? I mostly need CoPpEr~~ but would also like to try brass and a silver metal.

I want to make my on bead caps (gauge?) and necklace/bezel bases. I took an online class, Tower and Turrets, but can't remember the sizes of metal we needed as I was working full time back then and really did not work the class like I should have.

Still can't comment on some blogs and then no problem on others :o(

Home on the couch with a NASSTY virus today. Just sitting here . . . not fun.

(update: I bought some metal at Hobby Lobby. Michales had "colored" metal, not sure whats up with that. Did not purchase it. Still need a good source for copper if you have one)

I have made it thru almost every ones designs. However, my 82 y.o. mommy dearest is having surgery on her arm tomorrow. I, of course, will be at the hospital with her until she can come home on Thursday. Just love sleeping in hospital beds, right?

I will visit the blogs that I did not make it to this weekend. Just let me tell ya, you all blew me away with the most beautiful, awesome designs I have ever had the pleasure to fest my eyes upon.

Also, thanks to all that took the time to visit me. I truly appreciated your input.

Bead Soup Reveal

Welcome to the 3rd Bead Soup Blog Party!
What is a Bead Soup Blog Party?
Each beader was paired up with another jewelry designer and tasked with sending the following:
~ A focal~ A special clasp (not just a lobster claw)~ Some coordinating spacers or beads
Using the focal and the clasp was mandatory, but we could use anything from our own stash to round out the rest, and choose to use the coordinating beads or not.
Here's what I made!

Working with this rose quartz focal was a wee bit harder than I thought it would be as the focal has a tiny hole in the center running front to back instead of the hole going thru the center side to side. Plus it is thick and a bit weighty. But I did finally figure out how to attach the focal to this long necklace. I have posted three more pics on the post below this one.

From my stash I used tiny silver square beads, tiny round clear beads, two sizes of pink pearls, rose quartz flowers, and a tiny sparkly silver star to use with the focal and clasp provided by Menka, my partner, number 176 on the list below. Loved the experience of working with quartz and pearls.

No jewelry parts arrived in my mail box today. However, I will share a picture of the best jewel ever made. Doesn't she have such a lovely expression on her beautiful face?

This pic is my darling daughter in her snow shoveling wear: Winnie the Pooh coat, Moon and star pajama pants, with her zebra rain boots helping her feet freeze. No gloves to hide the beautiful nails or a hat to further flatten her flat hair. I told her she was gonna freeze with out gloves and hat. Mother's worry to much :o)

Ain't she cute! She shoveled snow until she could free her truck from mounds of snow.

No mail again today. It is too dangerous to be out in our 17 inches of snow and Unbelievable snow drifts. There is a drift by our front porch that is taller than me! Right in front of my Victorian mail box. *sigh*

What is in snow that makes ones eyes itch like crazy? I slept 12 hours today? Ever heard of a Snow induced Sleeping Disease? Well I got it. I have been soooo sleepy.

Deck steps? What steps?

I was supposed to go into work today. My boss was sending the Hummer in to pick me up.

My car is in that big blue pole barn back there. . . . where it is staying during this nasty stuff.
Boss lady called me at a quarter to nine to let me know they were having a hard time getting back to town. Stated cars off the road, on the side of the road, in big ditches.

Frozen Birdie with its neck scarf blowing in the wind.
She said she did not think too many would be out traveling around so the office would probably be closed today.

Me? I am playing in the studio. Hoping my Bead Soup beads arrive. . . . if the mail man can make it today. TALL - DEEP snow in the front by the mail box.

Blizzard in Oklahoma

This is only the third time in history that a blizzard warning has been issued for us. Our small town is out of eggs and bread, very low on milk and gas. A few stores have sold out of generators and sleds.

Schools have all ready been been cancelled in Green Country for tomorrow as we expect 16 inches of snow to fall after this freezing rain stops.

I called my boss and told them I don't know how to drive in blizzards. They said they would send the Hummer after me! Joys of small town living.

I was kinda wanting to stay home and work in the studio, however, since my Mom is having surgery next week and I will miss work to be with her I will make every effort to make it to work safely.

where do you look for inspiration when you create? I love to look at magazines and catalogs.

I received a bead catalog before Christmas that had lavender pearls on the cover. I have wanted to work with pearls since. I have put pearls on my "to do" list. Just look at the pearls whit the crystals in the middle. LOVE!

I have a stack of seed catalogs to remind me of natures "natural" colors. Mother Nature does know best.

So who/what kick starts your creative juices?

Love color! Orange, pink, aqua! Just love the colors in this cover. The extra designs in the ""O"" . . . . . . so beautiful. Brights, soft, name it I love it.

I am still sidelined from the surprise surgery on Friday. And just to round things out I apparently picked up a tummy virus while at the hospital. Ah the joys of multi tasking ;o)

I have been assigned my partner for bead soup. Soon as she sends me her address I will post the beads to be on their merry way to her.

I am doing my best to return to work tomorrow. Maybe for only half a day but I plan on putting forth the effort.

I think I am tired of winter. We are on a roller coaster ride on temps again. The above is a pic of an item I want in my garden this year. So I am sitting here looking at seed catalogs, so fun.

I saw on a blog yesterday an artist is making her spring line. I think I am gonna follow her lead and get out the the pretty colors of spring. I'm gonna pull beads to match the colors in the flamingo.

When you cut your metal to make bezels do your use tin snips or a saw? I got a metal stamp set the other day and want to make some cool designs, at least I hope it's cool. ha!

It was such a beautiful day in Oklahoma! I feel so sorry for those that have feet and feet of snow. We almost hit 70 today! But man was that wind sweeping down the plane! My ears are still ringing from the whistle of the wind going on all day while we were outside doing inventory. Now we are having a small thunder storm.

Can't believe the year is coming to a close. So many wonderful things has happened this year. I am looking forward to a brighter future for myself, family and our nation.

Out of fairness I am deleting posts and buttons of giveaways I particapted in. I need to learn how to unlike, unfollow, unlink all this nonsence and if I EVER get the chance to talk to my beloved, departed Aunt Annie I am gonna tell her how much I love her and still miss her. Cigar Box

I found the coolest cigar boxes today for only a couple of bucks each. Now I need to decorate them. I will take pics when the sun is shinning.

Today was the first day of An Affair of the Heart at the Tulsa Fairgrounds. Man let me tell ya it was awesome. There were fewer booths than in years past and it kinda seemed like there were MANY duplicate booths. BLING was everywhere.

I was shocked at the amount of women that forgot to put their pants on before leaving the house. Apparently they did NOT watch Oprah yesterday when the critic on the show stated "leggings are NOT meant to be worn alone. Leggings are meant to be worn UNDER something, such as a short skirt." I saw one lady with two toddlers and a baby in a stroller (read as NOT young and tight skinned) wearing a short shirt with a wrap around shrug that was also short with very THIN leggins. geesh! I counted about six more pantless "ladies" besides her.

Since I finished my Christmas shopping it was worth the six buck entry fee. Oh and seeing the artistry on view. When I grow up I want to have talent!

Tomorrow is the Pecan Fest in Chetopa, Kansas. Be~jeweled by jana has a booth there. I purchased a beautiful purple necklace from her for Luzs. I look forward to meeting her.

I have an excuse

Since I started my new job my brain has just been over worked. Plus my allergies are off the chart. My ear is giving me fits again............

So when I sit down at my work bench I have just been flat out copying other artist's work. Since I don't post them or sell them ( I did give a couple away) and I usually have purchased a book or pattern of some sort I figure it's kinda O.K.

Now that I am getting accustom to getting up before the sun and have gotten down a few of the basics of Fund/Government accounting I have been coming up with a few ideas of my own.

October is Luzs birthday month so I shall be busy putting a couple of things together for her. I purchased a couple of bead sets from julsbeads to make Luzs a bracelet or two, however, I don't think I will make for her as I want those bead for ME! Just to hold and look at.

On a different note SO glad fall came to visit us. The Tulsa State Fair is in town and we want to walk around and chow down on all the awesomeness those bad people serve. Cool weather will make us use more energy so we will have to eat more!!! See I got a plan.

Oh and that adorable picture of a gorgeous pup? I found a lady on etsy that makes beads that resemble your fur baby. Since my Maggie is a rescued mutt I can't find her "mix" any where. So Sueann is gonna make us a bead that is half beagle and half silky just like Maggie Mae. How awesome! (ain't she cute? she is telling me it's too cold for her to get a bath.......)

Where do you purchase ur supplies?

I have been searching for several items to make jewelry.

Etsy is a good place to look but finding a good seller is difficult. They either charge too much for the product or the "shipping and handling" is three to four times what it actually cost to mail the items purchased. I know. I ordered the items and paid the price asked but it flat out irritates me to pay six dollars for shipping and the package arrives with a buck twenty four in postage. I "plan" on not ordering from that vendor any more so now I need a new source.

While in Oklahoma City for training for my new job this past week I tried to find bead stores. No luck. I decided to go to some scrapbook stores.....NONE, however, I did find a cigar store owner that sold me some awesome empty cigar boxes. We have thousands of wonderfully talented artist in Oklahoma.......where does everyone get their supplies???

I need jump rings and "bling" for cool chain mail. I need bling stones for ear rings like the "Cougar" makes.

I need rhinestone chain so I figured a sewing store. Nope they did not have any.

So tell me.....where do you buy your jewelry supplies?

Or three! I could not decide which one was the best one. Spool or French knit spools that is.

Hobby Lobby had two four prong French knit spools. One is the cutest bee and the other is just deep yellow. The pins are different on both so I purchased both of them to see which one was easier to slip the wire over while "knitting". Then to my surprise at the Walmart in BA I found a Knifty Knitter that is the same set up except it is plastic with five pins. This one looks like it would work better with 24 or 22 gauge wire to make a necklace for the heavy glass daughter has.

I purchased some 28 gauge copper wire to use on the bee French knitter (or the ugly yellow one). Pics to follow!

Kerry Bogert hinted of something cool getting ready to happen. Perhaps a new book in the works? Could there be a twisted 2 in our futures? If so this time I will order from her web site so I can get the book faster.

I received the beads I won from suebeads Friday. So very pretty in person. I have come up with several different ways to use them.

Now I just have to decide which design I want more.

Yesterday I was at Beadles in Broken Arrow most of the day taking a soldering class. We were to make a necklace with matching earrings. The instructor allowed the students to chose the design we wanted I decided to do stars for Lu but the store did not have a star large enough to make the necklace so I made a set of heart ear rings instead of a necklace.

I gave both sets to Lu for her Valentine gift. I told her she better enjoy them as I do not have plans on making any more. All those people in a small room banging away on metal was really more than I could tolerate. Plus they really were not much fun to make and were VERY pricey for the class and the supplies. Also the steel wool destroyed my manicure (lesson learned ).

I need to learn how to take better pics of jewelry.
